Master Bond’s specialty flame resistant formulations consist of epoxy and silicone compounds. These products feature superior performance properties even upon exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Single component silicone products meet UL 94V-1 specifications for thicknesses of 0.75 mm and 1.5 mm and UL 94V-0 for 3mm thickness. These adhesives are non-corrosive, fast setting, have superb elasticity and a Shore A hardness of 35-45. Two component silicone potting/encapsulants compositions meet UL94V-0 testing for flame retardancy and do not require exposure to air for complete cross-linking. Thermally conductive/electrically insulative, they cure in thicknesses up to and beyond 1-2 inches, have a long mixed working life, low exotherm, very low shrinkage upon cure and withstand vibration, shock, thermal cycling.
Master Bond flame resistant epoxy is certified to the UL94V-0 specification and features a nonhalogenated filler. Durable and tough this user friendly system has a one to one mix ratio by weight. It exhibits good flow properties, cures at ambient temperatures or more quickly at elevated temperatures. Additionally this product has excellent electrical insulation properties, outstanding resistance to fuels, lubricants and produces very low smoke levels.
Common Applications Featuring Master Bond’s Flame Resistant Epoxy

FAR Standards, Boeing and Airbus Specifications
Master Bond has also made available epoxy formulas that pass the rigorous vertical and horizontal burn test requirements under the FAR standard 14 CFR 25.853(a). Primarily used in aviation applications these ROHS compliant products do not contain any substances of very high concern (SVHCs) as per REACH. Horizontal burn test approved systems are employed for bonding, sealing, coating for baggage equipment areas, aircraft windows and lighting assemblies. Vertical burn test approved material also passes Boeing specifications BSS 7238 Revision C for low smoke and 7239, Revision A for toxicity. It bonds well to multiple substrates and is recommended for interior panels, door frame lining, floor and door assemblies.
Like Boeing, Airbus has its own test requirements. Specific Master Bond epoxy systems passed the following Airbus tests: ignition, optical density of smoke and toxicity. Read more details on Airbus testing here.
